Come Over And Help Us...UPDATE ON THE WORK IN N.E. INDIA
Written by Ben Renegar & Ron Clayton Monday, June 30, 2008
During the India Missions Workshop held in Ft. Worth, Texas in April, team members Jerris & Juanita Bullard (who live in Manassas, Virginia) gave team members Ron Clayton, Robert Hall & Ben Renegar an update on the progress of the Lord's work in Northeast India. This is in the area of India that is called the "7 Sisters". The people are much different in customs & physical features than the "typical" Indian. They are short in stature and have decidedly Orienteal characteristics. They resemble chinese or Burmese.
Jerris & Juanita invited us to make plans to visit & work with the brethren in the areas of Manipur & West Bengal states where they have been working. Jerris has built a school of preaching in Imphal, and another American brother has built and is operating a children's home near Imphal. There are a number of congregations and dedicated preachers anxious to get to know the other American members of this team. Jerris has been working in India over 30 years and has helped the work in these areas a great deal.
This area of India is probably the most neglected part of the Lord's work in India. Travel to get to that part of India is difficult. Northeast India is very mountainous. There are some areas of that part of the country that have no way to get to except on foot. Added to this is the isolation of the many ethnic and tribal groups in those areas. Some of these states have as many as 8 different official languages. Some of these states are predominately "Christians". Nagaland and Mizoram are composed of almost 100% "Christians" people-those who claim to be believers in Jesus Christ.
To our knowledge, this school (Imphal School of Preaching) is the only Bible training school among our brethren in that part of India. It is badly needed. It is serving a great purpose, and we need to pray for its success for the good it can do in the work of the Lord in that part of India. And something else: those trained in this school will help spread the Gospel to Myanmar (Burma), Bangladesh, Nepal & Bhutan. India truly is the hope of democracy in that part of the world. More importantly, it is the hope for the spread of the Gospel to all of Asia. Do not take this thought lightly-Indian brethren have either started or have helped to start the work in all of the countries listed, as well as Pakistan & Sri Lanka.
And they are going to other places. Some preachers have gone to the Persian Gulf states-they have taken jobs, and they have taken their Jesus and their Bibles with them. They are teaching others who are willing to listen. Congregations have been planted in Kuwait & Dubai. There is an excellent chance of this work to lead to other places in the Middle East to hear and obey the Word of God. Pray that this is the "chink in the armor" of Islam in that part of the world.
The work in India has produced over 2,000,000 baptisms, has built schools, clinics, and church buildings, preachers' training, publications and bibles, Lectures and Studies, Women's programs and Foster homes, even Gospel Films to be used in Conversion.
Jerris has been involved with the team that worked to produced all of this. Jerris first teamed up with Ron Clayton in 1987. The autonomous Team meets in Hydrabad to discuss shared goals. They discuss the statistics that are kept on the India Church of Christ and work on common goals.
Jerris has been a preacher, evangelist, and missionary for many years. Originally from Snyder, Texas Jerris N. Bullard graduated from Lubbock Christian University, Abilene Christian University, and Sunset School of Preaching. He has preached in Texas, Pennsylvania, and spent 11 years in Great Falls, Virginia. In 1985, he became a full-time missionary to India under the oversight of the Elders at the Manassas, Virginia Church of Christ. Jerris is married to Juanita, who is originally from Baltimore. They have both completed numerous mission journeys to India; by 2008 Jerris had made 51 and Juanita 20 mission trips to India.
Jerris personally works to raise his own funds each year to do his part of the work. But the work is much larger than most imagine. Although Jerris began this work over 20 years ago, his partner Juanita, only began her work in the year 1999. She is now able to teach the women, a thing that was not done enough in the past because of the native traditions. Jerris is supported by individual Christians within the Church of Christ.
His work is always ongoing, and always growing. Just as thing cost more here, they are beginning to cost a lot more in India as well. In a year the cost of printing bibles has gone up 80%, and a plane flight from $1,500 to $1,850, and we can expect that to increase quickly in the near future.

Welcome to the Imphal School of Preaching website:
You will be introduced here to a large, world-wide family of those who are committed to serving God by being trained or training others to learn, live, and share God's word. You will first be introduced to the faculty and students in our resident school, the flagship of Imphal ministries. This key school and its growing numbers of people must remain healthy and strong in order for all the other ministries to be viable. Welcome to the Imphal family circle! You have chosen to investigate one of the oldest and finest biblical and ministry training programs in our brotherhood in the North-Eastern Region of India. This ministry exists by the grace of God and His work through Brother Jerris N. Bullard, Missionary to India and many faithful congregations and Christian individuals. All the glory goes to God for anything that has or will be accomplished at Imphal. We are truly blessed and thus must be truly grateful.
We try to pay attention to people and relationships as well as academic pursuits. From our administrative team down, we charge everyone to be accountable, and to be good stewards of the rich blessings that flow from a benevolent God and from our wonderful spiritual heritage. Keep in mind that our school is not perfect, because it is made up of imperfect students, staff, faculty, and administration. However, we are committed to "pressing on" toward perfection and Christ-likeness and to help others to do so (Colossians 1:28).
As you search through this website you may be a bit overwhelmed at all of the information. We encourage you to look beyond information and actions to our core values and our commitments. May God richly bless your journey!
The prayers of the administration and faculty of Imphal School of Preaching on your behalf are well expressed in the prayers of the Apostle Paul. Paul prayed, as we do, that certain qualities would develop in the lives of God
Situated in the downtown of Imphal, the capital city of Manipur, proper location, ideal environment, and with tranquil campus, the Imphal School of Preaching is an institution where young and prospective learners of the Word are mended and moulded towards perfection on their way to the present and for their way to life eternity.
As the motto of the school (Colossians 1:28) suggests, we do not only preach, but also warn and teach every man in all wisdom, that every man be perfect in Christ, the ever greatest Master. Here, we have a limited students in a session/course, for we lay more emphasis on the quality than the quantity. Also keeping this in mind, the present ratio of teachers and member of students is as good as 1:4.
So, if you are the lovers of Truth, you are the right person to stay with us for just two short years, to learn and equipt with the true doctrine of the New Testament Christianity.
You are warmly welcome!

Are you looking for a place to study the unchanging Living Word of God? Then, Imphal School of Preaching (ISP) is the right choice!
What are we doing at ISP?
First, at the ISP, we are preparing preacher to know and teach others God's Holy Word
Second, we train enthusiastic young men to preach the word of God to many.
R. Sanga had a vision of establishing a school of preaching in the early 1990s. As one of the Bible graduates from Alpha Bible College, Shillong, Brother R. Sanga frequently discussed at the need for such school with some members of the church of Christ in Manipur. He was deeply disturbed about the failure of Churches to show proper concern for training men to preach the Gospel. He often prayed that the situation might be remedied.
In September, 1992, the dream became a reality and the school was established. Brother R. Sanga served as the Honorary Director of the School. At the same time a Board Of Trustees was formed to oversee the school in January, 1996. It is designed to provide intensive Theological training to men and women for serving the cause of Christ.
We believe the Bible is God
The duration of its courses is Two Year and on completion of the two year course requirements, will earn the ISP Diploma of Achievement. It must be understood that completion of ISP requirements will not guarantee or offer any form of employment.
Since dress has a very important relationship to attitude and work students are required to dress decently and respectfully. Student must have evidence an attitude of concern about their personal appearance. On days the student is to preach homiletics class or participate in the Chapel service, he is not to wear jean-pant and T-Shirt. It is preferable to wear a coat and tie.
ATTENDENCE AT WORSHIP:
Every student is required to attend all regular services of the church. This includes Sunday Bible Classes Morning and Evening Worship and other related Programmes. We strongly encourage all students to attend Classes and Services at the Imphal Central Church of Christ.
The course of study is demanding in that it entails a two years period of intensive training and study. Every course is directly related to the task of preaching. Classes meet Monday through Saturday
