I cannot begin to describe what is happening in India right now with the Lord’s church. Some have tried to tell about the success and growth of the church in India, and several people have responded by saying the reports cannot possibly be true. I can tell you from first-hand experience that they are true. The people of India are eager to hear the gospel and when it is preached people are accepting and obeying it.

My first trip to India has been a memorable one. Having spoken at the Asian Bible Lectureships in Kakinada, India, we decided to extend our stay and work for a while with Ron Clayton and Robert Hall, who work out of Hyderabad. I came here, not as a supporter of any of the groups working here, nor to check on any particular work, so I am a very objective observer.

It was Thursday, November 20 and it was our second day in Kothakota, India. Since we arrived the afternoon before, we had taught in two preacher training seminars and preached in four separate gospel meetings. This was done in spite of a crazy schedule (supper at 1:00 AM, far too little sleep, and few amenities -- a rock hard bed, no chair in my room, no tub or shower, no hot water, etc).
